The Georgia National Guard family officially dedicated the Freedom Call Memorial Wall Thursday morning in a solemn and tear filled ceremony, on the grounds of the Clay National Guard Center in Marietta, Georgia. The service was focused on the families of the 42 men and woman who lost their lives in service during the Global War on Terrorism. Georgia Command Sergeant Major Phillip Stringfield, who deployed with many of those honored on the wall, assured the families that the memorial dedication represented the selflessness of their loved ones “who willingly gave their lives so that their families could thrive in freedom.” The Freedom Call Memorial Wall has been some two and a half years in the making. Conceptualized by former State Command Sgt. Major James Nelson the site will be a place of reflection and remembrance for the families and those who serve.
